Justice & Truth for Prince - Open letter to the Purple Family!

Justice & Truth for Prince

Open letter to the Purple Family

June 25, 2019

Re.: Open letter to the public issued on June 25th, 2019 by the Justice & Truth for Prince Team (also publicly known as‚ “The Petition Team” or “The Prince Petition Team”)

Due to the fact that some individuals and small groups of individuals are publicly sharing inaccurate information about who the Petition Team members are, and which work on the Petition has been accomplished by whom, we feel compelled to send out this clarification to you - our Purple Family, and the general public as well.

The Petition Team is responsible for the following:
  • Issuance of a comprehensive more than 400 pages Petition booklet comprising these documents: a cover letter; frequently asked questions (FAQs); a Petition Letter posted on two online Petition websites; a detailed Red Flags document; suggested subpoena list; summary of timeline; and all the signatures and comments of the signatories to two online petitions asking for a Grand Jury investigation into the circumstances of Prince ́s death;
  • Issuance of an initial letter, and two appeal letters submitted to the Minnesota Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board requesting an investigation of Carver County Attorney Mark Metz’s wife Kari Metz-Schutzenhofer ́s relationship with Kirk Johnson, and whether Mark Metz had a conflict of interest in his role as Carver County Attorney in making a decision about not charging anyone with respect to Prince’s death; and the
  • Set up and maintenance of a Blog that the Petition Team uses to update Petitioners, the Purple Family, and the general public about the Petition Team’s work on seeking justice for Prince.

The current “Justice & Truth for Prince” team (aka “Petition Team”) comprises three people who work quietly in the background, and the Admins of the Facebook community “Prince – Getting 2 The Truth” (aka “PG2TT”). A few months before the delivery of the Petition, the Petition Team approached the Admins of the Facebook community PG2TT for support, assistance and advice. This is how PG2TT got involved with the Petition.

At the time of the delivery of the Petition on September 18, 2018, the Petition Team had several members. Currently, the Petition Team comprises the initial Core Team members who led the Petition Team. The Core Team is still working and researching, and looking into the next steps involving the Petition efforts.
Apart from the signatures and comments, all of the content included in the Petition booklet delivered to US Attorney Erica H. MacDonald, Carver County Attorney Mark Metz, Carver County Sheriff's Office, Brian K. McKnight, Special Agent in Charge, US DEA and other government officials in Minnesota on September 18, 2018, was the outcome of research done by members of the Core Petition Team, who are still in charge of the Petition Team, and the Admins of PG2TT. Four members of two Facebook groups submitted comments on the original draft of the Petition Letter. A few of their comments were accepted and included in the “Red Flags” section of the Petition Letter that was posted to the two online websites. Therefore, other than the few comments included in the Red Flags section of the online Petition Letter, and the signatures and comments posted by the signatories, the documents released to the authorities as noted above are the intellectual property of the Petition Team’s Core Team members and PG2TT, as stated above.

The Petition Team asked the Purple Family and general public for signatures and delivered to the authorities the names of all signatories and comments that were posted up to September 14th, 2018. In order to finance the printing and delivery of hard copies of the Petition, the Petition Team leaders asked only the Petition Team members, leaders of a few Facebook groups, and few people who were closely and actively following the Petition to assist with voluntary donations. Apart from the Petition Team members and the Admins of PG2TT, all of whom made contributions, only one person who was not a Petition Team member voluntarily reached out to the Petition Team and made a donation to support the printing of the Petition booklet. No other people donated to the Petition effort. PG2TT fully funded one of the online petition pages to promote the Petition to potential signatories. Two Petition Team members posted the two online petition pages listed below on behalf of the Petition Team.

Here is an overview on those pages:

1. Petition on the Change.org website: https://www.change.org/p/mark-metz-county-attorney-carver-county-attorney-s-office- petition-for-grand-jury-to-investigate-prince-s-death

Signatories to date: 4,126

2. Petition on the Care 2 website: https://www.thepetitionsite.com/de-de/421/017/009/prince-homicide-grand-jury- investigation-demanded/

Signatories to date: 2,027

The “Justice & Truth for Prince” Petition Team made the deliberate decision not to raise any funds by asking for donations from the general Purple Family or the general public for this project. The Petition Team did not set up any donation page and did not actively solicit donations. In 2018, several members of the larger Petition Team, PG2TT, and the one voluntary donor donated funds to pay for all the hard copies of the Petition booklet that were delivered to the government officials in Minnesota. The Petition Team used all of the funds raised to pay for the costs of printing and delivering the Petition, the flyers for the handwritten signatures distributed around Minneapolis area, and the transportation costs. No funds remained.

Prior to the delivery of the Petition, Ms. Nicole Welage (who had voluntarily joined the Petition Team to assist with the Petition delivery) offered to use a hard copy flyer to gather handwritten signatures from people in the Minneapolis Metro Area. The flyer was designed by a member of a Facebook group. The Petition Team reviewed the flyer and authorized Ms. Nicole Welage to print and distribute the hard copies. Some members of the Petition Team voluntarily donated funds to enable Ms. Nicole Welage to pay for printing the flyers, and the transportation costs involved in gathering the handwritten petition signatures. Ms. Nicole Welage gathered and submitted 100 handwritten petition signatures to the Petition Team from this effort.

The Petition Team leaders then asked Ms. Nicole Welage to pick up the hard copies of the Petition booklet from the printing service, and deliver them to the government officials on behalf of the Petition Team on the Petition delivery date. The Petition Team’s sustained efforts to recruit more volunteers through Facebook and the online Petition websites to assist with the delivery of the Petition were not successful. A very loyal Prince fan, who wants to remain anonymous, offered to drive the Petition delivery team to the various MN addresses for free. He drove Ms. Nicole Welage to each delivery location. The Petition Team is exceedingly grateful for his dedicated service for Prince!

Following the delivery of the Petition, the Petition Team leaders arranged for Ms. Nicole Welage to do a media interview about the Petition. Ms. Nicole Welage left the Petition Team a few weeks later because of a flyer that was attributed to the Petition Team that the Petition Team had not authorized. We are grateful to Ms. Nicole Welage for delivering the Petition on behalf of the Petition Team and all the signatories. As stated above, she had nothing to do with the organization, content or research work related to the Petition documents.

The Petition Team leaders state, categorically, that any persons who may have stated publicly, implied or led others to believe that they initiated and/or wrote the Petition are not factually accurate. Only the Core Team and the Admin of PG2TT are responsible for the content of the Petition documents that we authorized for delivery to the government authorities.

We also want to point out that we are here for Prince's truth to be told. We will not tolerate requests for donations in the name of the Petition, directly or implied, and/or misrepresentation of the history of the Petition and the Petition Team.

The “Justice & Truth for Prince” is represented to the public and media by, and only by:

The next step of the “Justice & Truth for Prince” Petition Team is to send out follow-up letters to all authorities and officials who received the Petition booklets to ask them for an update. Until now, we have not received any official answers or replies to our Petition. Once we receive a response, we will then assess what needs to be done next.

With this open letter to the Purple Family and the general public, we hope to have clarified all the different stories that are being told on the internet and other media about the Petition Team and the Petition in which we asked for a Grand Jury to investigate the circumstances of Prince ́s death. We also hope that you support our quest to get justice for our dearly loved Prince with your prayers and sustained pressure for the truth.

The Petition Team Leaders and Admins of PG2TT, as well as its community, dearly love and miss Prince, and like thousands of you, we want the true circumstances of Prince ́s sudden “death” to be properly investigated, all the facts and findings including his autopsy report to be made available to the public with transparency, and those who were involved to be held accountable and responsible. We also want to protect Prince's legacy!

You can find a lot of the research of Admins of PG2TT and what they have brought to light, which as corpus formed the main content of the red flags document, on their page “Prince – Getting 2 The Truth”.

We still have not completed our work on the Petition, which is a very fluid, complex, progressional, detailed, and sensitive project. Misrepresentations of the Petition project undermines the Petition as a whole, and ultimately hurts its efforts in the pursuit to obtain Justice for Prince.

Blessings, truth and peace!

Prince Fans File Complaint Against Prosecutor Who Investigated His Death

Prince fan group has filed an official complaint with the Lawyers Professional Responsibility Board in Minnesota claiming the County Attorney who investigated his death failed to disclose a conflict of interest.
In April, Carver County Attorney Mark Metz announced that the investigation into the death of Prince would not result in any criminal charges. He said at the time, “We simply do not have sufficient evidence to charge anyone with a crime related to Prince’s death.”
